Scope
The Heritage Services section of the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department is seeking a collaborative and innovative Heritage Program Coordinator (Community Services Coordinator 1) at Historic Stewart Farm. Reporting to the Curator of Exhibits and Programs,  the Heritage Program Coordinator plays a critical role in developing and providing one-of-a-kind experiences for visitors at this dynamic heritage site. This is an excellent opportunity for a museum/heritage professional with demonstrated experience developing programming, working with community, and implementing and supporting visitor experience enhancements. It is an exciting time at Historic Stewart Farm as a strategic planning process is underway, while an Indigenous Carving Centre will begin operating on site as  of Summer 2022.
Responsibilities
The Heritage Programs Coordinator will be responsible for the development and delivery of a wide variety of heritage programming,  while also playing a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the heritage site. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Overseeing community and curriculum-based programming to serve all ages.
• Implementing program and visitor experience enhancements identified in the strategic planning process.  • Overseeing the planning and delivery of special events.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of new and existing exhibits.
• Connecting with the community to build relationships, trust, and lasting partnerships.
• Supervising and supporting both staff and volunteer teams.
• Evaluating, reviewing, planning, and implementing operational plans and systems.
• Identifying and submitting relevant grant applications; and
• Representing Historic Stewart Farm at various internal and external committee meetings.
We are looking for a positive, thoughtful team player who understands best practices for museum/heritage operations, is committed to sharing heritage equitably and responsibly, and is familiar with the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Our ideal candidate is great at building relationships with staff and the community. The successful candidate has strong supervisory, leadership and communication skills, and they take initiative and think outside the box to solve complex problems.
Qualifications
As the successful applicant, you are passionate about museums and heritage, and possess the following qualifications:
• Graduation from a recognized university or college level program.
• 3 years of progressively responsible experience including supervision; or
• An acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience.
Applicants under consideration will be required to provide proof of qualifications and consent to a Police Information Check.
