*EVENT ADVISORY *

*Remembrance Day e**xhibit commemorates the Punjabi-Canadian connection to
100 years of the poppy *

Flanders Fields remembrance exhibition highlights the presence and the
contribution of Punjabi troops, and their connections to South Asian
Canadians.

The events in Flanders have over decades has been narrated through a
Eurocentric lens which has served to exclude the soldiers of serving on the
Western Front. This centennial event recognises the Punjabi troops that
fought to defend the Canadian line at Ypres - Canada's first and arguably
most important battle in WW1.

The event will showcase the Duty Honour & Izzat exhibition produced in
collaboration with Simon Fraser University supported with WW1 ephemera
(including newspapers and postcards), military decorations and other period
memorabilia from the Indus Media Foundation collection.

Photos of artefacts can be found here:
www.facebook.com/IndusMediaFoundation/photos. The exhibit's curator will
be available along with Indian Army veterans and Museum of Surrey
production partners.

*Potential questions *

   1. How do Canadians and soldiers from the Punjab region, have in shared
history in their service to the Crown in WW1 and WW2?
   2. How do we increase awareness of these stories?
   3. Why is this awareness important?
   4. What are the benefits of teaching this history more widely?
   5. How has the release of your film, *Promises,* which is based on this
common history, been impacted by Covid?
   6. Tell us about your graphic novel, *Duty, Honour, Izzat* and how it is
   used to share this history?
   7. How are the commemorations/celebrations of 50 years of
   multiculturalism relevant to this project?
