Hello Joe:
You could try searching the MemoryBC database: MemoryBC.ca is a portal where you can access descriptions of archival materials preserved in repositories throughout the province. Here is the link: https://www.memorybc.ca/

Subject: [BCMA] Search for Metis in local BC archives

Greetings

My name is Joe and I am doing research on Metis people and their historical presence in the general area around two areas in BC

  1. Creston, Cranbrook, Fernie and general Kootenay region
  2. Dawson Creek and Hudson Hope and Fort St John general region
Is anyone aware of links to specific archival information? Metis have also been called 'half-breeds' or 'mixed blood' among other names in the historical record. Any assistance is much appreciated.

Thank you
Joe Desjarlais
