Due to interest, the AABC is pleased to schedule a second "Copyright
Basics" workshop on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Registration be open
until September 8, or until all 25 workshop spaces are filled.

*About the workshop:*

Join the AABC for this one-day workshop presented by Jean Dryden that
provides an overview of how Canadian copyright law works and presents the
copyright provisions (including relevant case law) that determine duration
and ownership of copyright and the respective rights of copyright owners
and users of copyrighted material (including fair dealing and the
exceptions for libraries, archives, and museums). This course will be of
particular interest to archivists, librarians, and museum curators who are
responsible for managing copyright in their collections, as well as users
of copyrighted content.

Participants will learn:

1. How copyright law works and the challenges of applying it in the digital
environment.

2. The provisions of the Canadian Copyright Act that set out the duration
and ownership of copyright and the respective rights of copyright owners
and users of copyrighted material.

3. How to systematically analyze a copyright question.


*Format:* Lecture, examples, handouts & discussion

*When:* Wednesday, September 15, 2021; 9:00 am - 4:30 pm (coffee/lunch
breaks scheduled throughout the day)

*Where:* Online via Zoom

*Registration rates:* AABC Members: $150.00 / Non-members: $180.00
