Hello all,

A collection of textile working equipment, including floor looms and spare loom parts (various sizes), warping mill, equipment for spinning, shuttles, and bobbins is available for transfer to other BC museums or heritage institutions.

Background: This collection is associated with Honey Hooser, a Surrey-based weaver and instructor. She also worked with veterans, using weaving as a form of occupational therapy. Her husband, George Arthur Hooser, built the looms in the collection. This equipment was formerly displayed and housed at the Hooser Weaving Centre (1985-2005) in South Surrey. Some equipment is homemade while others (shuttles, pirns, reeds) are manufactured. A list containing descriptions of the items and thumbnail photos is attached.

If interested in any of the items, please contact Louisa Smith, Collections Assistant at louisa.smith at surrey.ca<mailto:louisa.smith at surrey.ca> by July 9th. Thank you!
