Hello Friends;

It gives me immense pleasure to be able to post this update on our international mail art exhibition, You Are Not Alone, as it gets ready to make its European debut on September 3rd, 2021 at the Salon am Moritzplatz in Berlin.

It’s incredible to think of all that has transpired over the last 18 months since we first conceived of and put out our international call for artists for our exhibition entitled, You Are Not Alone. The exhibition first opened here at the Penticton Art Gallery on September 18, 2020 continuing through November 7, attracting over 3,000 people.

Information on the Penticton Art Gallery’s exhibition can be found online at: http://pentictonartgallery.com/you-are-not-alone

A permanent virtual exhibition featuring all of the participating artists can be found at: www.covid19mailart.com/

This past February we shipped the exhibition to our partner and co-curator, Humam Alsalim at for an exhibition that was set to open in April in Berlin. Sadly this first exhibition date had to be canceled due to increased COVID restrictions and now five months later the exhibition is set to make its European debut on Friday September 3, 2021 at the Salon am Moritzplatz located at Oranienstrasse 58, Berlin, Germany. Sadly I am unable to travel to Berlin for this exhibition and I hope that you can help us spread the word to any and all you may know.

To help us spread the word please join and share our facebook event: https://fb.me/e/13cEAcgcj

When we originally conceived of this exhibition, we hoped that we could tour the exhibition to a number of venues and made certain that it could be easily boxed up, transported and displayed in any number of configurations. Over the last year we have received expressions of interest from a number of individuals we would love to share this exhibition with you and your community. The collection will eventually be returned to Canada to be housed in the Penticton Art Gallery’s permanent collection as a record and a testament of the power of the human spirit in the face of the COVID pandemic.

As mentioned we have taken great care to ensure that this exhibition can be transported and displayed easily and we would welcome any proposals to host this unique and powerful exhibition your community. If you would like to inquire about hosting this exhibition please contact Humam Alsalim at: Syria-art at outlook.com

I can’t express enough my gratitude to all of the participating artists for their time, interest, trust and support of this project and I hope we are able share their stories with an even wider audience moving forward. These continue to be dynamic times and I hope that the artists and the stories featured will help to inspire others to know that no matter where things go in the months and years ahead, they are not alone.

Thank you also to my dear friend and colleague Humam Alsalim for partnering on this project, for building and maintaining the website and for arranging the venue and curating the exhibition at Salon am Moritzplatz in Berlin.

Stay safe and I wish you and your families all the very best.

Yours,

Paul F. Crawford
