The City of Surrey is looking for a Community Services Assistant 1 - Historic Stewart Farm for a temporary full-time position! SCOPE
The City of Surrey's Parks, Recreation and Culture Department provides exciting opportunities and challenges in an active and energetic environment and is looking for a enthusiastic Junior Leader for Public Programs, Tours, and Day Camps at the Historic Stewart Farm.
RESPONSIBILITIES

The Community Services Assistant 1 - Junior Leader will be responsible for:

  *   Delivering public programs and Tours.
  *   Leading children in Heritage Day Camps.
  *   Performing heritage demonstrations.
  *   Assisting with researching crafts, games and educational activities.
  *   Interpreting local history.
  *   Assisting with special events.
  *   Public program and Day Camp preparation.
This position has a 2021 hourly rate of $19.14.
QUALIFICATIONS

  *   Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by some relevant experience or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience will be accepted.
  *   Current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificates (or willing to obtain prior to start).
  *   Previous experience working with children and the public and delivering programs to pre-school and child audiences is an asset.
  *   Experience in a heritage facility setting is an asset.
  *   Students enrolled in Museum Studies, History, Anthropology, Archaeology or Education will be suited to these positions.

This position is supported by Heritage Canada's Young Canada Works (YCW) Building Careers in Heritage. Successful candidates much meet the criteria set forth by the grant program, including:

  *   Must have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution within the last 24 months;
  *   Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
  *   Are an unemployed or underemployed college or university graduate, and will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with this position.
